Wetaskiwin Air Show receives prestigious 2008 Alto Award

Wetaskiwin… The Wetaskiwin Air Show received the Marketing Partnership Alto Award at the 8th Travel Alberta Industry Conference held October 26 to 28 in Banff.

The Wetaskiwin Air Show was a coordinated effort between the Reynolds-Alberta Museum and the City of Wetaskiwin.

Marketing goals of the campaign were to build awareness of Wetaskiwin and increase recognition of the museum as a family-friendly destination and to profile its significant vintage aviation collection.

The results show this unique partnership took off. Alberta’s only free air show attracted 51,000 over the two-day event – more than four times the population of Wetaskiwin. The event returned $1.5 million to the community.

Operated by Alberta Culture and Community Spirit, the Reynolds-Alberta Museum celebrates the spirit of the machine through an outstanding collection of vintage vehicles, aircraft, tractors and industrial machines, dating from the late 1800s to the 1990s, and is also home to Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame. Located just 2 km west of Wetaskiwin on Hwy 13, just 40 minutes south of Edmonton.
